POSSIBLY USEFUL: If you are unsure whether a site should be considered a reputable source for actual, fact-based news, a potentially useful test is to see how long the domain name has been registered.

Use the ICANN WHOIS tool, linked below,

Under ” Important Dates” you’ll see something like this:

Updated Date: 2016-06-18
Created Date: 2016-06-18
Registration Expiration Date: 2017-06-18

As a rule of thumb, domains with a “Created Date:” of less than a year or so don’t count as reputable sources at all: They haven’t been around long enough to gain any real measure their integrity and evaluate the quality of their work.
