Tried to drive to work at 7:15. Nearest major road (rt. 28) not plowed, super slick. Came home, after getting about 5 miles up the road, nearly getting creamed by a pickup truck that decide he liked my lane better than his. Worked remote for AM. Tried to head in again at 11:30. Rt 28 still not plowed or sanded, as far as I can tell. Just got home a few minutes ago, after nearly sliding off the road SIDEWAYS *WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT, and digging another (older) dude out of the ditch who was blocking most of the road. Fuck you, winter. Just, fuck you.

So a couple years back, my favorite cousin went tits up. Among the jewels of his music collection was this phantom records compilation album featuring the Vatican Commandos… then fronted by a young gentleman who went on to make himself a name in electronic music as MOBY. Music history, kids.

That thing where, you see a picture of some one and it gets filed away in your head somewhere… and sometime later, you read a a book, and that picture becomes the character you visualize. I just ran across that picture. It seems that in my head, Miles Vorkosigan is basically Mikhail Kalashnikov.

Music geeks – trying to notate a 6-tuplet over two beats, and the software is telling me the measure is short. What’s up? It doesn’t feel like it should be a pair triplets, which feel different to me in my head.
