So… I decided to see if The Shannara Chronicles was any better than the couple episodes I caught on TV now that it’s on Netflix.

It isn’t.

All of the pieces are there, but it’s all so.. overwrought and trite that it’s unwatchable. And I’m not sure it’s even MTVs fault. I remember beginning to dislike the books for much the same reasons when I was like 13 or 14, which is almost certainly Brooks’ target audience. via Facebook

Before this idiocy gets any traction… Do I need to explain that there are lots of companies that:

* sell research samples of all sorts of scary bugs to all sorts of institutions provided they have appropriate containment facilities?

* that most identified viruses and bacteria have some sort of patent entailment associated with their genetics, and that these patents do NOT indicate that the subject of the patent is genetically engineered?

* that taking things said by bullshit websites like http://ift.tt/Lyia7c actually makes you stupider by raising your stress level? via Facebook
