There’s a particular kind of dry cold that doesn’t register instantaneously. Like, you go out in it, and the temperature doesn’t much register at all for a moment or two.<\/p>\n

I let the dog out to pee, and thought it was warmer than yesterday. As I turned around to go back inside, it landed on me, and cut instantly to the bone. I could literally feel my circulatory system shift into “Retract the dangly bits and keep the core warm! WE’RE GONNA DIE” mode.<\/p>\n
