Add 580-233-6186 to your call-block lists.

Rule #1: Anyone calling to offer unsolicited technical support is trying to fuck you.

What they will have you do is grant them remote access to your machine, and they will either load malware that allows them remote control of it more-or-less permanently, or they will load ransomware on it and lock your machine down and extort you for money to buy a code to unlock it.

They almost always identify themselves as “Geek Support”, but I have heard other, similar names.

Additionally, you may want to not that while they appear to call from a US number, they will usually have a strong foreign accent. (They are using either a call forwarding service or exploiting the way that Caller ID works. But they are, in fact, in a call center outside the US.) via Facebook
