Fulltone Fulldrive 2 [Mosfet] – $100. Truly flexible OD with boost. This thing can push warm blues and screaming high-gain tones, with a selectable mid-boost option that adds a tight focus to the tone to jump out of the mix.
EHX Soulfood – $50. I have one, and live and die on it. High-ceiling clean boost, with a drive option. Apparently a Klon clone, I like this better – Does everything from tightening up a clean pre-amp section on a low-moderate boost to bringing incredible amounts of boost to push your amp’s dirt channel into the ecstasy zone. You can very quickly find tones for everything from vintage Stones to Rangemaster-influenced Sabbath to snappy, compressed funk & dance sounds. I place mine at the end of my gain-board, and often use it as a shaping boost when running fuzz pedals, to keep from falling too far back into the mix.
