While in fact, true, the timeline on solar engulfment is a minimum of 7.6 billion years in the future, *if* it happens at all. There are plenty of other ways for the solar system to turn to shit.

Earth is about 4.5 billion years old. So, the planet is less than half-way whrough its life cycle, as a rock in space.

The earliest forms of life appeared about 500 million years after that… single celled organisms.
About 450 Million years later, the first boney fishes appear, get wiped out, and then we fiddle around in the multicellular-goo realm for a long-ass time until bones start showing up again, and appear to have stuck around as a useful notion.

360 million years ago marks the earliest estimates for the first land vertebrates appearing. So let’s look at *that* number.

7.6 Billion years is ~13 times as long as it took to get from very early amphibians to humans.

Modern humans have been around about 2 million years. It’s a very small drop in a 5 gallon in terms of time – approximately. WE could go through JUST that part of the cycle about three thousand eight hundred times in 7.6 BIllion years.

That’s more than enough time to either wipe ourselves out or find a new home… or spread like a plague across the galaxy. If we’re still here in 7.6 billion years, the fact is that we haven’t @#$ applied ourselves as a species, and deserve whatever the hell fate awaits us.
