First things first: I came across the recent news about Johnny Depp’s apparent abuse of Amber Heard, including his former managers’ testimony. It is frankly, appalling — and in the moral sense, neither more nor less than any similar case.
But the fact that Depp’s manager appears to have blithely tried to patch shit up with them, acting as a go between after at least one such incident, is a whole separate matter. It’s a depraved sort of moral negligence that he didn’t immediately go to the police or other authorities, and instead acted as a fucking apologist for Depp’s behavior, *to* his victim. That’s complicity. That’s rape culture.
And it’s absolutely got to fucking stop.
