Tonight’s musical WTF: While twiddling around with a couple of song ideas for the RPM challenge, I stumbled across a great guitar line, found a chord progression that worked really well with it, and could hear the vocal melody in my head. Then I recorded the pieces, and while listening back to it, realized I had just regurgitated the entire intro section to “Hallowed be Thy Name” by Iron Maiden. It’s funny to me that I was able to feel all the pieces fall into place **as if I were writing it**, and not realize until I had put three guitar tracks – the lead line, the chord progression, and line a playing the vocal melody together and actually played them back to realize that I was playing one of my life-long favorite songs.
